31 August '19'.
Last weekend we headed to Reading & Leeds with Inka Upendo, where she was playing on the BBC Introducing stages. She had been put forward by Sarah Gosling at BBC Introducing Devon & Cornwall, adding to the amazing support Inka has had already from BBC Introducing.
The first stop on Friday morning was Ullac Oy in Shoreditch. They're a streetwear brand based in London/Helsinki who had kindly offered to kit Inka out for the festivals with some of their collection and didn't disappoint.
We arrived at Reading on Friday afternoon with the sun blazing and Charli XCX blasting out from the main stage. Good vibes! Inka's set was right after the band SPINN (they're great - go listen) and she nailed it, playing tracks from her Samsara EP (out soon!). Nice to see that a Falmouth contingent had made it to her set as well.
The next day was a pretty intense round trip from London to Leeds and back by car. Despite the sweltering heat, Inka played another great set to round off the weekend. Once again the BBC Introducing staff were incredibly well organised and helpful, even going to the lengths of shuttling us round the site on a golf buggy in search of wayward car keys (and beer).
Overall it felt like a great moment in Inka's career! Inka's next track Beatiful is out next week, with the final track and EP coming out in early October, and we've got some gigs being lined up for the end of the year, so hope to see you there!
